WMA  SPRING/SUMMER MUSIC WEEKEND

June 19th, 20th& 21st 2020

Do you remember those marvellous WMA Music Weekends held in Spring and Autumn?  Or perhaps you are a more recent WMA member who doesn’t?  Maybe you just never got around to attending one?  Well now is your chance!

The WMA Executive Committee has given the go-ahead to try and revive a regular weekend of music fun.    The first weekend being proposed will be a Spring/Summer weekend next June on the 19th, 20th& 21st at Fircroft College in South Birmingham.

There will be two music classes run simultaneously throughout the weekend with two very musically experienced group leaders running the classes:

Group singing led by Maria CaravanasMaria studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire acquiring her singing qualifications in teaching and performing.

She has sung professionally with the Ambrosian Chorus and with Opera Holland Park & has performed solo recitals throughout the country. - She believes “Singing is for everyone.”

Mixed Instruments led by Ingrid Gould – Ingrid is a champion accordionist and excellent musician with experience of music from around the world.  She teaches accordion and runs mixed instrument classes in Birmingham.  Most acoustic instruments  are welcomed and some amplified instruments, but check with the organisers before booking.

Both classes will be open to a mixture of abilities and instruments or voices, so its an ideal opportunity to come and meet some like minded people and get a taster of our annual Music Summer School later in the year.  http://www.wmasummerschoolofmusic.co.uk

The prices below are for people who are not WMA members, WMA members will be entitled to a £10.00 discount and non-members will have the opportunity to join prior to the weekend to receive a £10.00 discount – this will entitle you to a copy of the WMA bulletin and future discounts on our music weekends.

Residential at a cost of £190.00 per person (£180.00 for WMA members) for the whole weekend (Friday evening until Sunday afternoon)  we can offer:

  • Music Sessions
  • En-suite bedroom
  • Self-service breakfast
  • Lunch and evening meal
  • Unlimited hot drinks served in the common room

Alternatively if you live nearby we can offer a non-residential weekend rate of £30.00 (£20.00 for WMA members) for the whole weekend plus the cost of any meals at £5.50 per main meal (the number of meals and dietary requirements should be specified in advance)

Musical Instruments can be left securely on site and there are ground floor rooms with varying degrees of accessibility and a lift is available if your class is not on the ground floor

There will be an area for the usual socialising and musical fun in the evenings although alcohol is not permitted in the classrooms or common room areas, so there may be an evening trip to the pub organised for those who prefer a drink to unwind.
